Hip-hop and funk reunite for a killer lineup at Red Rocks Amphitheater this Saturday, May 13th. The show will feature Lettuce with one of the original members of Wu-Tang Clan — Ghostface Killah — along with bassist legend, George Porter Jr. Other great supporting acts include Cyril Neville, Turkuaz, Russ Liquid, and J Rocc.

Lettuce typically features smooth funk paired with hip-hop inspired beats with infectious live performances. With their fourth album, the band wanted to capture the energy they produced while on tour and thus Crush was born. Infusing classic psychedelic and 90’s hip-hop, Lettuce brilliantly displays original horn-laced arrangements that stay true to funk legend.

Speaking of legend, long live George Porter Jr. whose tagline is “funkify your life.” This New Orleans bassist is one you most certainly canNOT miss. His slapping together of rock, funk, and R&B has gained some serious recognition in the industry and has kept him busy since the 60’s.

As one of the original members of the Wu-Tang Clan, Ghostface Killah has also set himself apart as a solo artist. His loud storytelling linguistics paired with emotional narratives give the rapper an upper hand in the genre. Featured on several popular mixtapes with artists like Jadakiss and Missy Elliot, Ghostface Killah released a series of successful albums in the early 2000’s. Just as Lettuce was influenced by 90’s hip-hop, Ghostface Killah’s latest music was inspired by the Italian murder mystery film genre known as “giallo.”

It’s truly a beautiful thing when you put together musicians who complement each other, which is why tickets for this show are going fast.
