NOLA is notorious for its status as a hearth of American music like jazz and funk. The inspiration for countless musical acts has been born from the swampy, vampy city, and its a blessing to see The Big Easy still pumping out soulful stylings from bands like Dragon Smoke.

The band formed as part of the New Orleans Jazz Fest tradition known as the “Superjam,” which pairs together musicians who normally wouldn’t play together. Lo-and-behold, this 2003 mashup provided a valuable outlet for the dual vocals of Neville and Lindell, which combined with Galactic‘s rhythm section set the tone for almost 15 years of music together.

True to their word that “where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” they’ve branched out of their homeland of New Orleans and the Bay Area to bring you the blazing hot funk rock that’s sure to make you grab your dancing shoes and best crew for a raging cajun evening at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom on 12/2.

Support from Green is Beautiful (a tribute to Blue Note guitarist Grant Green feat. Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), Alan Evans (Soulive), Chris Spies, Alex Scott, Nick Gerlach (Turbo Suit) rounds out a perfect jazzy lovefest that will speak to your soul and tickle your toes.
